At MSPL, training on environmental awareness and competency in line with ISO 14001, safe work practices & housekeeping is part of the curriculum. Environment Management System classes are conducted in English as well as in the local Kannada language. All the employees are also trained on the ISO 9001, Quality Management System and OHSAS 18001, Occupational Health and Safety Management System.

To nurture awareness and the need for environmental conservation among the mining units in India, MSPL has instituted the “Abheraj Baldota Environment Awarded” through the Federation of Indian Mineral Industries (FIMI), New Delhi. The citation recognizes exceptional environmental efforts made through out India.

Over the years MSPL has been celebrating “World Environment Day” by involving school children in plantation drives. To increase awareness among the children about the importance of environment, MSPL also screens environment related films in the schools. MSPL has also conducted drawing and elocution competitions in various schools of Hospet town and in surrounding villages.
